Who is responsible

DevToolGrid is run by the operator of devtoolgrid.com. Questions about this policy or about your data can be sent to contact@devtoolgrid.com.

What you enter into the tools

Every tool on the site runs in JavaScript in your browser. Text you paste, values you type and files you select (for example an image you encode to Base64) are processed on your own device. They are not sent to our server, not stored by us and not written to any log. When you close or reload the page, the input is gone.

A few tools read information that your browser already has. The User Agent Parser, for example, fills in your own user agent string; this also happens locally. Copy buttons write to your clipboard only when you click them.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our web server keeps standard access logs. Each request for a page or file records your IP address, the date and time, the requested URL and your browser's user agent string. We use these logs to keep the site running, to investigate errors and to protect it against abuse. They are kept only for as long as they are needed for these purposes and are not combined with other data to identify you.

Cookies set by the site itself

The web framework the site is built on sets two technical cookies: a session cookie and an XSRF-TOKEN cookie that protects against cross-site request forgery. Both expire after two hours. They are not used for analytics or advertising, and there is no account or login attached to them.

Analytics

We use Google Tag Manager to run Google Analytics, which helps us understand which tools and guides are used and what to improve. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects usage data such as the pages you view, how you reached the site, your device, browser and screen size, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and interactions such as clicks on advertising banners. This data is processed by Google under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). You can opt out with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

The site also loads a visit statistics script from bytelane.top, which is run by the operator of DevToolGrid, not by a third party. It receives the usual request data from your browser, such as your IP address, user agent and the page you are on, and is used only to count visits to our sites.

Advertising

Some pages show banners for ProHoster (web hosting) and Crossout (an online game). They are served through the Admitad affiliate network. The ProHoster banner image is loaded directly from Admitad's servers (ad.admitad.com), so your browser sends Admitad your IP address, user agent and the page the banner appears on, and Admitad can count the impression. When you click any banner, you pass through an Admitad tracking link before reaching the advertiser's site; Admitad and the advertiser may set their own cookies to attribute the click or a later purchase. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.

We also record banner clicks in our analytics (which banner and where it was placed on the page) to know which placements work. We do not pass any personal information to advertisers ourselves.

What we do not do

• There are no user accounts, no registration and no login.
• There are no forms, comments or newsletters, and we keep no database of anything you enter.
• We do not sell personal data.

Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use a content or tracker blocker, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. The tools themselves keep working without analytics and advertising cookies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, for example in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have the right to access the personal data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. To exercise these rights, write to contact@devtoolgrid.com. We hold very little that can be linked to you, mainly server log entries tied to an IP address; for data collected by Google or Admitad you can also contact them directly.

Children

DevToolGrid is a site for developers and is not aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect information about children.

Changes to this policy

If the services the site uses change, we will update this page and the date at the top. The current version always applies.
