What you will find here

The tools cover the small jobs that interrupt a working day: formatting and validating JSON, testing a regular expression, decoding a JWT or checking its HS256 signature, encoding and decoding Base64, generating hashes, UUIDs, passwords and QR codes, building cron expressions, comparing two texts, counting words, and converting between JSON, YAML and CSV. There are also parsers for URLs, user agents and HTTP headers, and reference lookups for HTTP status codes and MIME types.

Every tool has its own page and its own URL, so you can bookmark the one you use most or send a link to a colleague. There is nothing to install and no account to create.

Your input stays in your browser

All 28 tools run in JavaScript on your own device. Text you paste and files you select are processed locally and are not sent to our server or stored there. That matters when what you are pasting is a production token, a configuration file with credentials in it or a customer's API payload.

The pages themselves do load analytics and advertising services, which collect usage data such as the pages you visit. The Privacy Policy describes exactly what is loaded and why.

Hand-written guides

Next to the tools there are guides that answer specific questions: why a JSON document fails to parse, how a JWT is put together, what a cron expression really means, how Base64 changes the size of your data. Each guide is written by hand, checked against primary sources such as RFCs, specifications and official documentation, and its code examples are run before they are published. The guides focus on the quiet mistakes that documentation rarely warns you about.

Two languages

The site is available in English and Spanish. The Spanish guides are written for Spanish-speaking readers rather than machine-translated, so a guide only appears in Spanish once a proper Spanish text exists; until then its link leads to the English version.

How the site is paid for

DevToolGrid is free to use. Hosting and the time spent on new tools and guides are paid for by a small number of advertising banners, each labelled "Ad". Some of them are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy something after clicking one. Advertisers have no say in what the tools do or what the guides say.
